Huge AMC Match Vs. Point Park Looming

EDINBORO, PA - Daemen's quest for their first 20-win season since 2004 will have to wait for another day as the host Edinboro Fighting Scots handed the Wildcats a 3-1 defeat tonight (8-25, 25-20, 18-25, 23-25) at McComb Fieldhouse.  The loss drops Daemen's overall record to 19-7 with a huge American Mideast Conference match looming this Saturday vs. Point Park.  Ediboro improves to 13-3.

Edinboro had four players with double figure kills as they compiled a team hitting percentage of .262 for the match.  Daemen, meanwhile, managed just a .136 hitting percentage while committing 16 attack errors.

Seth Sullivan paced the Fighting Scots with a match-high 13 kills.  She was aided by Gina Boothe who had 11 kills while Kelcie Helmer and Tabitha Meeks split 20 for the NCAA Division II team.  Brittany Centorbi led all players with 44 assists in the match as well.

Daemen was once again led by the combination of sophomore Jenn Karan and junior Joanna Fretthold.  Karan put down a team-best 11 kills while Fretthold added nine as the duo combined for 20 of the team's 32 kills.  Fetthold added a match-high 12 digs while setters Kimmie Mack and Kaley Vazquez split 28 assists among them.

Daemen now awaits the afore-mentioned Point Park Pioneers who invade Lumsden Gymnasium this Saturday, October 1.  Excluding the Walsh Cavaliers (OH), who sit atop the AMC standings despite being ineligible for post-season play, Daemen (19-7, 2-0) and Point Park (17-4, 1-1) are at the top of the conference standings and each team has been receiving votes for the Tachikara-NAIA Top 25.  The winner of the match will get a leg up on the race for a #1 seed a the AMC/Cal-Pac Tournament this November.  The match is set to tip off at 11am.
