Andorka Leads Balanced Attack As Wildcats Remain Unbeaten

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's basketball team placed six players in double figures enroute to a 106-28 victory over Fleming College (Ont.) today at DC's Lumsden Gymnasium.

Daemen, which has averaged 93 points over its first three games, improved to 3-0, while the Knights dropped to 0-2.
 
Senior Chelsea Andorka (Canton, Ohio/Notre Dame College) paced the balanced Daemen attack with 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and five steals.  Freshmen Raeann Stilwell (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) made the most of her 18 minutes off the bench with 16 points, three assists and three steals.
 
Senior Ellie Allen (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) totaled 12 points, six rebounds and four assists, while classmate Samantha Stanfield (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) also netted 12 points and chipped in nine rebounds and four steals. Senior Monica Kosior (Grimsby, Ont./Canisius College) connected on 5-of-7 shots and recorded a double-double for the hosts (10 pts, 10 rebs), while junior point guard Lindsay Stoddard (Limestone, N.Y./Allegany-Limestone) added seven points, a team-high eight assists and five steals. Sophomore Meghan Short (Sandown, NH/Timberline Regional) scored a career-high 10 points in eight minutes off the bench.
 
Junior Kate Langer (Waterloo, Ont.) paced the Knights with seven points and five rebounds.
Daemen scored the first 12 points of the game and later took a 26-1 lead following a three-pointer by senior Lia  Zahn (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) with 12:46 left before the break.  Daemen increased its lead to 31 points (37-6) following a jumper by Andorka midway through the half, and the hosts took a 54-12 lead into the break.
 
Fleming went scoreless over the first seven minutes of the second half, which allowed  the Daemen lead to balloon to 61 points (73-12).
 
The Wildcats forced 34 turnovers in the game, which the hosts converted into 44 points.
 
Daemen, which shot 55-percent (45-for-82) for the game, took advantage of its size advantage and outscored the Knights 62-6 in the paint. The Wildcats also posted a 55-29 edge in rebounds for the game.
 
Daemen returns to the court tomorrow (Oct. 28) when it plays host to Fanshawe College at 2 p.m.
