Daemen (19-6) 63-39--102
Fisher (0-19) 23-41--64

LYNN, Mass. - Senior guard Ellie Allen (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) poured in a team-high 19 points and surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for her career to lead the Daemen College women's basketball team to a 102-64 road victory at Fisher College today.

Allen, who entered today's game with 984 career points, scored her milestone basket on a layup with 17:19 remaining in the second half off a feed from junior guard Lindsay Stoddard (Limestone, N.Y./Allegany-Limestone).  She now stands at 1,003 points for her career and is the second Daemen player to reach the milestone this season; fellow senior Chelsea Andorka (Canton, Ohio/Notre Dame College) accomplished the feat last November.

It came as no surprise that Allen's signature basket was assisted by Stoddard who dished out 15 assists in the game, establishing a new team record.  The previous record of 13 assists was shared by former Wildcats Amy King (Clymer, N.Y./Clymer), Alison LaPoint (Interlaken, N.Y./South Seneca) and Marybeth Nugent (Springville, N.Y./Springville Griffith).

Today's victory pushes Daemen's record to 19-6 on the season as coach David Skolen has his squad one win away from the program's 11th consecutive 20-win season.

A long season continued for Fisher, an independent member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II, as the Falcons dropped to 0-19 on the season.

Daemen stormed out of the locker room and quickly established a double-figure lead at 16-6 with 12:48 to go in the opening period.  Senior center Monica Kosior (Grimsby, Ont./Cansius College) was the focal point early on as she scored eight of the team's first 16.

Daemen would go on to lead by as many as 42 points (61-19) in the first half on another basket by Kosior at the 1:12 mark before taking a 63-23 lead into the halftime intermission.  The 63-point outburst was the most the Wildcats have scored in a half this season and all but nine came in the paint.

Allen's milestone basket sparked a 7-0 Daemen run that saw the Wildcats run their advantage up to 47 points (76-29) - their largest lead of the ballgame.

Fisher scored eight straight to cut the deficit under 40 with 13:17 to play.  From there, the Daemen lead fluxuated between 39 and 46 points for most of the remainder of the game.

Fisher knocked it down to a 36-point game twice in the waning minutes before eventually falling by 38.

Kosior finished with 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and added six rebounds.

Samantha Stanfield (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) played a fine all-around game with 12 points, six assists and six steals.  The 5'5" senior guard also hauled in a career-high 13 rebounds, helping the Wildcats dominate the battle of the boards, 65-32.

Andorka tossed in 11 points, seven boards and three blocked shots while redshirt freshman guard Raeann Stilwell (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) continued her fine play off the bench with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

Porsha Grayson led the Falcons with a game-high 23 points that included a 10-for-11 showing from the free throw line.  Javanna Bernard was next with 22 points, albeit on 8-of-26 shooting.

Daemen connected on 53-percent of its field goal attempts (44-for-83) in the game, including 30-for-50 (60-percent) in the opening half.  The Wildcats assisted on 36 of its 44 made field goals in the game.

Fisher was limited to just 21-percent shooting (6-for-29) in the first half and finished the game shooting 20-for-68 (29-percent).

Daemen, the No. 1 ranked team in the last seven United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) polls, has now was eight of its last 10 while going 6-2 in their current stretch of eight straight road games which ended today.  The Wildcats return to the friendly confines of Lumsden Gymnasium this Saturday (Jan. 26) when they host NCAA Division II independent Salem International University at 2 p.m.  A pre-game ceremony is planned to honor seniors Allen, Andorka, Kosior, Stanfield and Lia Zahn (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) who will be playing in their final home game.
