Volleyball Falls On The Road Against Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Daemen College women's volleyball team fell on the road today against Edinboro University (22-25, 23-25, 16-25) at McComb Field House.  This non-conference matchup, Daemen's final of the season before closing with 15-straight East Coast Conference matches, dropped the Wildcats to 6-8 on the season.  Edinboro, of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, improved to 14-2 with the win.

Edinboro doubled up Daemen, 12 kills to six, in the opening set, with the Wildcats committing six errors to negate its attack in falling behind 1-0 in sets.

The second set was the strongest for the Daemen offense, putting down 13 kills and attacking at a .278 clip.  But, Edinboro was up to the task, recording 16 kills of their own in the set.

In the third, Daemen ran out of gas against the finely-tuned Fighting Scots, posting just six kills and committing nine errors as the hosts closed the ordeal.

For the match, Edinboro posted 38 kills and attacked at a .218 clip.  Daemen was limited to just 25 kills and a .074 hitting percentage in the match.

Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen) was strong in the middle tonight for the Wildcats with four total blocks while Ashley Drzymala (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) added 11 kills to the teams efforts along with two blocks and five digs.  Jenna Reeser (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) put down four kills along with two blocks.  Katie McKrell (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) had a team-high 18 assists and added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Challen Litwiler and Victoria Severo split 20 kills between them to lead the Fighting Scots.  Litwiler added 13 digs for her double-double effort, and the Fighting Scots also got contributions from Marah Maycock (20 digs) and Sydney Trathen (29 assists) in the win.

The Wildcats will be hosting their first home conference match of the season against Molloy College at Lumsden Gymnasium this Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m.
