BUFFALO, N.Y. - For just the seventh time since 2010, the Daemen College men's cross country team competed inside the Buffalo-Niagara Region, finishing third out of six non-NCAA Division I teams today at the Canisius Alumni Classic held at Delaware Park. The 8K race featured 11 total teams, including five NCAA Division I affiliates, and was scored separately for Division I and non-Division I teams.
Daemen amassed 105 points in their team standings today, coming in behind nationally-ranked teams McMaster University and SUNY Geneseo. McMaster, the No. 6 ranked team in all of Canada, totaled just 15 points to finish first, while the top NCAA Division III team in the land, Geneseo, finished second with 59 points. Meet host Canisius totaled 30 points to top the Division I portion of the standings.
The individual results included all 138 entrants regardless of affiliation. Daemen's
Kevin Roginson (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) paced the Wildcats by finishing in 26th place with a time of 26:15.8. The Daemen junior has now been the Wildcats' top finisher in all five races this season.
Senior
Nigel Cordulla (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) was next across the finish line for Daemen, finishing in 93rd place with a time 28:34.2.
Josh Bodnar (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore),
Matt VanDeMortel (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and
Lucas Canales (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) rounded out the Wildcats' scorers today, placing between 108th and 117th.
Daemen returns to racing next Saturday, October 22 at the East Coast Conference Championship meet in Rochester, N.Y.
