READING, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team wrapped up competition on day two of the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament today by going 2-3 over five traditional matches at Berks Lanes. The results today move Daemen to 2-7 overall this season.
The Wildcats got on the board qiuckly this morning, downing Virginia State University 844-676 in their opening match of the day. Freshman
Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) came through with a team-best round of 252 in the win.
A 915-733 loss to St. Francis University (Pa.) followed. The Red Flash are the No. 15 ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason poll. Steele's 193 paced the Wildcats in defeat.
Daemen rebounded to score a 931-796 victory over Mt. Aloysius College. Steele posted a team-best round of 217 while teammate
Julianna Brnik (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) narrowly missed her first round of 200 this season, finishing with a score of 199.
The Wildcats concluded their tournament matches with back-to-back losses to Youngstown State University (967-759) and Long Island University Brooklyn (941-770). The latter is ranked No. 13 in the NTCA preseason poll.
Steele's 196 average over the five matches was tops for Daemen today.
