Roginson Paces Men's Cross Country at Lake Erie Storm Invitational

Junior Records Third Top-10 Finish

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Junior Kevin Roginson (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) continued his solid cross country season this afternoon, placing eighth out of 107 runners at the Lake Erie Storm Invitational. The 8K race was hosted by Lake Erie College.

Nationally-ranked Walsh University claimed the team title, as the Cavaliers placed four runners in the top-10 and posted 39 points—20 points better than second-place Ashland University (59). Walsh is ranked 21st nationally and fifth in the Midwest Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Edinboro University (78), Lake Erie College (99) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (156) rounded out the top-five teams. Daemen finished in ninth place with 216 points. Nick Hall of Ashland finished first overall with a time of 25:48.91, nine seconds ahead of the second-place effort of Mark Hadley of Walsh.

Roginson crossed the finish line in 26:44.27. He has now posted a top-10 finish in three of Daemen's four races this season, including a first-place effort at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College two weeks ago.

Behind Roginson, Daemen's remaining four scorers came in between 60th and 80th today. Senior Nigel Cordulla (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) placed second among Daemen runners (60th overall) with a time of 29:40.43. Freshman Josh Bodnar (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore) was 64th overall with a time of 29:51.97. The Wildcat greenhorn has now figured in the scoring in each of his first four collegiate races, including a 10th-place finish at the season-opening Le Moyne Alumni Short Course Invitational.

Sophomores Lucas Canales (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) and Timothy Poole (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) rounded out the Wildcat scorers today. Canales placed 73rd (30:28.24), while Poole finished 80th (30:57.86).

Senior Mike Capestrani (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) and sophomore Joseph Tracy (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) were also in action for the Wildcats today. Capestrani came in 83rd (31:20.93), while Tracy finished 100th (34:27.90).

Daemen returns to action next weekend (Oct. 15) when it travels across town to take part in the Canisius Alumni Classic hosted by Canisius College.
