For Communications Daemen Keglers Sweep Three Matches From Thiel WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team came up with a three-match sweep of visiting Thiel College this afternoon at Transit Lanes. The Wildcats ousted the Tomcats in a pair of traditional team-style matches, winning 770-566 and 719-553, before finishing with a 749-656 win in a Baker format match. The results today push Daemen's overall record to 6-9 this season, and it gives interim head coach David Zajac's squad four consecutive wins. The Wildcats won their previous match, a 774-746 final in Baker format, a week ago in the conclusion of a three-match set vs. crosstown rival Medaille College. Thiel drops to 0-6 on the season following today's matches. The two teams met eight times last season, and Daemen now holds a 6-5 edge in the all-time series. Junior Julianna Brnik (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) paced the Wildcats in the first match with a team-high round of 178. The round of 159 by freshman Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) was tops in the second team-style match today. Daemen will look to even its record when these two teams meet again for three matches, this time in Thiel's home state of Pennsylvania, this Saturday, November 19. Saturday's matches will conclude the fall portion of Daemen's 2016-17 schedule which will resume in early February.
