82 Student-Athletes Named To ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll

Daemen Student-Athletes Among Record Number Honored

AMHERST, N.Y. - Eighty-two student-athletes from Daemen College were listed among the honorees when East Coast Conference Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff, announced the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2015-16 academic year this week. The ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes from member schools who achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.25 or higher. Conference-wide, a record 1,257 student-athletes were named to the Honor Roll, and this marked the seventh consecutive year that the number of honorees has increased.

"What a great year for the ECC and for all of those who earned a place on the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll," Dranoff said in a press release. "We are very proud of the record-breaking academic performances of those student-athletes who participate in ECC sports. As always, the commitment to excellence in the classroom, along with service to the community, go hand-in-hand with the effort given in athletics."

Daemen's Director of Athletics, Bridget Niland, echoed the commissioner's sentiments.

"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for the academic achievements they continue to receive," Niland said. "As a staff, we continue to hammer home the message that they are students first, and they are here to prepare themselves for the next 40 years of their life. With the Commissioner's Honor Roll, and like we saw recently with 65 student-athletes being named to the Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester, it continues to be evident that our message is being well received. In addition to the student-athletes, I'd also like to recognize and congratulate our coaching staff for continuing to attract and mentor such talented student-athletes."
