For Communications Guerinot To Participate On Panel Of NCAA Compliance Professionals AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Success Brandi Guerinot has earned several professional appointments recently, most notably her inclusion on a panel called the Compliance Think Tank. Nominated by the East Coast Conference to participate on the panel, Guerinot will help the group address several challenges that are presently facing Division II compliance offices. Â According to NCAA.org, the Compliance Think Tank "will (1) conduct a comprehensive review of the Division II Manual to identify and address current legislation that does not realistically align with the resources dedicated to Division II; (2) develop tools and resources to help campuses and conference address challenges and pain points of compliance; (3) encourage development of a shared-responsibility compliance model; and (4) host a summit in December 2017 to strategize next steps and submit recommendations to the governance structure." Â The December gathering noted in the Compliance Think Tank dossier will be the NCAA Division II Culture of Compliance Summit which is slated to take place at NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind. Â "Brandi is part of a stellar Athletics Leadership Team here at Daemen," said Director of Athletics Bridget Niland. "Her NCAA compliance experience and dedication to Daemen has impressed us all over the past two years. We are excited to see her talent recognized at the national level." Â In addition, Guerinot has been appointed to a separate committee of compliance professionals who are tasked with assisting the NCAA with the development and launch of the Division II Online Coaches Education Program. This program will deliver legislative and health and safety content to Division II coaches beginning in Spring 2018. Â Lastly, Guerinot has been selected as a participant in the Division II Athletic Directors' Association (D2ADA) Women and Minorities Mentoring Program. As one of 10 mentees in the program nationwide, Guerinot has been paired with Lynn Tubman, Director of Athletics at Chestnut Hill College (Pa.), to help enhance the former's career development. Mentors in the program, like Tubman, provide yearlong guidance and role modeling during monthly webinars. Â "It's an honor to be selected to be a part of these different programs, and I'm excited to represent Daemen and the East Coast Conference," said Guerinot. "As a relatively new member of NCAA Division II, I believe these professional appointments reflect Daemen's standing and reputation as an up-and-coming institution in the realm of intercollegiate athletics." Â Guerinot has been with Daemen Athletics since March of 2016, and she is primarily responsible for overseeing Daemen's compliance initiatives in accordance with NCAA Division II and East Coast Conference rules and regulations. She also provides administrative oversight of Daemen's academic support programs for student-athletes. Â Before coming to Daemen, Guerinot served in several capacities at three different NCAA Division I institutions. Most recently, she was the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her three-year stint at UB came after she held the title of Associate Director for Compliance and Recruiting at Boston College. She got her start in the industry as a graduate assistant in the compliance office at The Ohio State University, and she also completed a nine-month internship at NCAA Headquarters, working primarily with the National Letter of Intent program. Â A native of Virginia, Guerinot holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from George Washington University where she was also a four-year member of the Colonials' rowing team. She also holds a Master's Degree in Sport Management from Ohio State. Â Print Friendly Version
