TONAWANDA, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team won three out of five matches today at the Medaille Invitational, and claimed second place in the final tournament standings. The tournament, which featured six teams, was held over the last two days at Classic Lanes.

Today's matches were played under Baker format, best-of-seven scoring. Daemen's results today were as follows...

MATCH #1: Roberts Wesleyan defeated Daemen 4-2 (138-183, 171-179, 145-269, 217-158, 215-202, 149-199)
MATCH #2: Daemen defeated St. Vincent 4-1 (152-168, 205-182, 202-144, 185-162, 185-133)
MATCH #3: Daemen defeated Hilbert 4-0 (181-146, 135-127, 169-129, 185-126)
MATCH #4: Daemen defeated Pitt-Bradford 4-2 (159-194, 170-148, 168-143, 171-159, 147-165, 150-113)
MATCH #5: Medaille defeated Daemen 4-3 (123-148, 179-200, 177-235, 210-203, 199-176, 197-139, 179-157)

After going 4-1 in tournament play Saturday, the Wildcats closed with an overall tournament record of 7-3, tied with Roberts Wesleyan. With Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan each owning a head-to-head win over one another, the tie was broken by using the teams' head-to-head total pinfall which was in Daemen's favor.

Tournament host Medaille College claimed the tournament championship after posting a 9-1 record. The Wildcats' seven-game loss to Mavericks was one of only three matches Sunday to go the distance, and it went that long after Daemen rallied from a 3-0 deficit.

Freshman Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats with an 18.13 pins-per-frame scoring average, third-best amongst all participants. For her efforts, Newberry was named to the all-tournament team.

Sophomore Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.) and freshman Alex Syrotynski also faired well individually for Daemen today. Good posted a 16.16 pins-per-frame average, while Syrotynski had the team-high Baker total for a single game (234).

Daemen returns to dual match play Wednesday, November 15 with a three-set series vs. Hilbert.
