For Communications Veitengruber Selected To Attend NCAA Career In Sports Forum AMHERST, N.Y. - Student-athlete Mark Veitengruber (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) of the Daemen College men's tennis team learned recently that he has been selected to attend the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Career in Sports Forum which takes place June 1-4 at the organization's headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. Veitengruber, an accounting major who recently completed his junior season for the Wildcats will attend the annual gathering of approximately 200 student-athletes from across the country who learn and observe about possible careers in sports, particularly in collegiate athletics. The motive of this exclusive, four-day meeting is to help student-athletes outline their career paths, meet current athletics professionals, and build a network of professional colleagues and peers met throughout the forum. The forum will consist of an arrangement of speakers and panelists, as well as different sessions in which the attendees will engage in activities together. "The NCAA Career in Sports Forum is a program that affords student-athletes like Mark an incredible opportunity to network and explore the employment possibilities that exist within the sports industry today," said Bridget Niland, Daemen's director of athletics who at one time worked at NCAA headquarters as the associate director of academic and membership affairs. "Our goal is always to help our student-athletes become the best versions of themselves in preparation for life after college, and I'm certain that Mark will find this experience to be worthwhile as he begins to weigh the options for his future beyond Daemen. I wish we could send more students to this event, but the invitation process is competitive and I think that speaks to the kind of young man Mark is, both on the tennis court and off." Veitengruber's selection to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum marks the second-straight year that Daemen will be represented. Last year, now-graduated student-athletes Rachel Pawlak (women's basketball), Somara Colon (women's basketball) and Alicia Contreras (women's volleyball) were all selected to attend. Attendees come from NCAA member schools only, must have reached junior or senior status, must have competed in an NCAA-sponsored sport during the current academic year, and must have been nominated to attend by an administrative staffer at their institution. Stay tuned to daemenwildcats.com during the days of the forum as Veitengruber will be blogging about his experience each day.Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned Mark Veitengruber 6' 0" Junior Players Mentioned Mark Veitengruber 6' 0" Junior
