Women's Cross Country

Trabert, Pede Pace Wildcats At Harry F. Anderson Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) and freshman Tara Pede (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) both recorded top-10 finishes to lead the Daemen College women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational held this morning on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.

Daemen accumulated 148 points in the team standings to place fifth out of 16 teams. Host Roberts Wesleyan (37 points) placed first, followed by Saint Bonaventure University (84), SUNY Geneseo (126) and Gannon University (133).

Junior Emily Izydorcak (Orchard Park, N.Y.) of Saint Bonaventure paced the field of 198 runners today with a time of 18:35.1.

It marked the first race of the 2017 season for Trabert, a first-team All-East Coast Conference performer last year who posted a career-best time of 18:32.4 at this event last fall. Trabert finished in fourth place at this event for the second-straight year with a time of 19:16.1. It marked her eighth career top-10 finish—and she has now finished in the top-10 in five of her last seven races dating back to last season.

Pede, who paced the Wildcats in the first two races of the season, placed seventh with a time of 19:28.0. The time was over a minute faster than the 20:33 she posted while finishing second overall at the season-opening Daniel Walker Invitational.

Freshman Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y./Alden) and red-shirt senior Katherine Robinson (Pasadena, Calf./Pasadena) both posted top-50 finishes for Daemen. Warner finished 38th with a time of 20:36.4, while Robinson placed 48th with a time of 20:44.9.

Sophomore Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) and freshmen Mackenzie Tubbs (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) and Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) also figured in Daemen's team score today. LiVecchi (21:06.2) and Tubbs (21:06.9) finished 65th and 66th respectively, while Much placed 85th with a time of 21:37.5.

Freshman Ashley Dusza (Alden, N.Y./Alden) and sophomore Elisia Panipinto (Ovid, N.Y./South Seneca) also competed for Daemen, but did not figure in the team scoring. Dusza placed placed 95th (21:52.7), while Panipinto finished 163rd (25:12.9).

Daemen returns to action next weekend when it takes part in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
