AMHERST, N.Y. - Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for matches played October 1-7. It marks the sixth straight week that McCaffrey has earned a weekly honor from the conference; she was previously named ECC Rookie of the Week for August 27-September 2, and ECC Setter of the Week for September 3-9, September 10-16, September 17-23 and September 24-30. The official announcement of this week's accolades was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

McCaffrey, a 5-foot-8 freshman, continued her stellar rookie season as she averaged 10.86 assists per set while helping Daemen extend its ECC unbeaten streak to seven consecutive matches with home wins over the University of Bridgeport (3-1 on Oct. 5) and Mercy College (3-0 on Oct. 6). The matches concluded the first round of conference play, and the Wildcats sit atop the league standings at 7-0. Overall, Daemen has won 11 of their last 13 matches to sit at 13-8 on the season.

McCaffrey opened the week by recording 41 assists and nine digs in the win over Bridgeport. It marked the eighth time this season that she's posted 40 or more assists in a match. As she's done for most of the season, McCaffrey was signal-calling for a balanced offense as four players recorded nine or more kills in the match.

Against Mercy, McCaffrey distributed 35 assists - her 14th consecutive match with 30 or more - and added eight digs and four kills.

McCaffrey presently leads the ECC in total assists (792) and assists per set (10.85). She also ranks among the national leaders in both categories (22nd in total assists, 27th in assists per set), and is currently on pace to become just the seventh player in team history to surpass 1,000 assists in a single season. McCaffrey is also the only setter in the league to be quarterbacking an offensive attack that features six players averaging better than 2.0 kills per set. Only Molloy features as many as four players with that average.

McCaffrey and the Wildcats return to action tonight with a non-conference contest against regional rival Le Moyne College. The Wildcats will be looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Dolphins, one of only two against East Region opponents this season.
