The loss gives Daemen a fourth-place finish at the event, the program's best-ever showing in conference tournament play. The fifth-seeded Wildcats, who advanced to the tournament's final four by overcoming a 3-0 deficit in a dramatic 4-3 victory yesterday over Chestnut Hill College, had the tables turned on them today by third-seeded Adelphi. The Panthers, who are also ranked 11th in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, trailed Daemen 3-1 this morning before rallying for the victory. Freshman Katlyn Newbery (Rochester, N.Y.) paced Daemen in defeat today, posting a 19.92 pins-per-frame scoring average over 14 frames. Sophomore Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.) chipped in with 16.78 pins per frame today. Daemen's season ends with a 35-17 overall record, the best record in the team's brief three-year history and more than double their win total from all of last season (16-25). All 10 players on the roster are set to return next season. Tournament play concludes later this afternoon. Adelphi advanced to the elimination bracket finals where they'll face second-seeded Franklin Pierce University. The winner of that match advances to take on top-seeded Lincoln Memorial University in the tournament finals.
