McCaffrey Earns Third Straight ECC Setter of the Week Honor By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Women's Volleyball | 9/24/2018 4:50:00 PM AMHERST, N.Y. - Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week for games played September 17-23. It marks the third straight week that McCaffrey has earned the honor. The official announcement of this week's accolades was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y. McCaffrey, a 5-foot-8 freshman, played a starring role as Daemen posted a 2-1 record in a week that included three matches in as many days at Lumsden Gymnasium. The Wildcats knocked off ECC foes New York Institute of Technology (3-1 on Sept. 21) and Long Island University Post (3-1 on Sept. 22), both of which were picked ahead of Daemen in the league's preseason poll. The weekend homestand concluded with a 3-0 loss to defending Northeast-10 Conference and NCAA Division II East Region champion University of New Haven. It was an impressive showing for McCaffrey and the Wildcats as the trio of opponents entered the weekend with a combined 107-37 record since the start of the 2017 season. McCaffrey totaled 132 assists over the three matches, good for an 11.82 assists-per-set average. She opened the week by posting 42 assists, seven digs and a career-high six kills in the win over NYIT. She followed that with a career-high 56 assists, her third match this season with at least 50, to go along with six digs and three kills. McCaffrey added 32 assists, seven digs and three kills in Sunday's loss to New Haven. She's now recorded at least 30 assists in 15 of the team's 17 matches this season, including the last 10 in a row. McCaffrey presently leads the ECC in total assists (648) and assists per set (10.80), and ranks among the national leaders in both categories (12th in total assists, 26th in assists per set). She's the only setter in the league to be quarterbacking an offensive attack that features four players averaging better than 2.0 kills per set. She was previously named the ECC Setter of the Week for games played September 3-9 and September 10-16, and she also earned ECC Rookie of the Week honors for August 27 to September 2. Looking ahead, McCaffrey and the Wildcats return to action this weekend with their first road trip of the conference season. They'll visit defending ECC champ Molloy College (Saturday, Sept. 29) and Queens College (Sunday, Sept. 30).
