FREDERICK, Md. - The Daemen College women's bowling team went winless in four matches here today during second-day action of The Mount Shootout. The two-day tournament features 16 teams, and is being hosted by Mount St. Mary's University at Terrace Lanes.
The Wildcats went up against some of the top programs in the nation today, as three of the four matches came against teams ranked in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) top-25 poll. All four matches today were Baker format, with the first two being total pin fall and the two provisional round matches being best of seven. Daemen opened with a 954-859 loss to #20 Duquesne University and a 976-818 setback to #15 Delaware State University. Daemen then opened the provisional round with a 4-2 setback to St. Francis College-Brooklyn, before closing out the tournament with a 4-2 loss to #21 Mount St. Mary's.
Daemen won two of nine matches over the two-day tournament and placed eighth out of the 16 teams. The final standings were based on total pin fall over the two days. Daemen finished with a total pin fall of 6,061. Youngstown State University took first place with a total pin fall of 6,630. Duquesne (6,507), Delaware State (6,454), Wilmington University (6,396) and St. Francis-Brooklyn (6,260) rounded out the top five teams.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshmen Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) ranked sixth out of 103 bowlers during the during the "traditional scoring" format on day one, as she totaled 981 pins over five matches for an average score of 196.2.

Daemen stands at 8-11 on the young season and returns to action in two weeks (Nov. 2-3) when it takes part in the Medaille Invitational.
