KENMORE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team posted a 4-1 record in their return to action today at the Medaille College Invitational. The two-day tournament is being held at Classic Lanes.
Today's action was "traditional scoring format" and the Wildcats opened with back-to-back wins over Villa Maria College (829-780) and D'Youville College (832-770), before suffering a 763-747 loss to Mercyhurst University. The Wildcats rebounded with their strongest effort of the day, as they rolled an 868-762 win over Penn State Behrend. Daemen closed the day with a 795-716 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford. Today's schedule was altered from its original format following the loss of Hilbert College from the tournament field. Today's results evens Daemen's season record to 12-12.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshmen Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) continued her solid start to the season, as she bowled in all five matches and posted an average score of 175.8. She rolled a 222 during the win over Penn State Behrend, which ranked as the highest score by a Daemen bowler today.
- Junior Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) also competed in all five matches and posted a 164.0 average. She rolled a 194 during the win over Penn State Behrend.
- Junior Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) bowled in the final four matches of the day and finished with a 161.0 average. She rolled a team-best 186 during the win over D'Youville.
- SJunior Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) rolled a team-best 189 during the win over Villa Maria and finished with a 166.0 average over three matches.
- Senior Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.), freshman Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) and junior Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) also competed for the Wildcats today. Good posted a 148.0 average over four matches, while Nowak bowled in three games and posted a 150.0 average. Pencek rolled a 188 in the win over Pitt-Bradford—her only action of the day.
