AMHERST, N.Y. - Caroline White of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played November 18-24. The official announcement of weekly awards was made in the ECC's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon

White, a 5-foot-11 junior forward, continued her strong start to the 2019-20 season by producing at both ends of the floor in wins over Edinboro University (64-57) and Wilmington University (83-51) last week. She keyed the Daemen defense which surrendered just 108 points (54.0 ppg) in the two games, limiting EU and WU to a combined 35 percent shooting.

Against Edinboro, White totaled eight rebounds, including five defensive and added a blocked shot. She grabbed six defensive rebounds and a team-high three steals in the rout of Wilmington. She also netted 18 points in each contest, shooting 16-for-29 from the field (55%) for the week.

White has started all six contests this season, and is producing 14.3 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. She is the second Daemen player to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining teammate Katie Titus (Penfield, N.Y.) who was a two-time selection last season. The ECC Defensive Player of the Week award was instituted for the 2018-19 season.

White has been a fixture on the court for coach Jenepher Banker and the Wildcats since arriving on campus in 2017. She's appeared in 61 of a possible 63 games, and made 37 starts. In that time she has totaled 523 points, 306 rebounds, 37 steals and 20 blocks.

Daemen (5-1, 0-0 ECC) takes a five-game winning streak into games later this week in The Sunshine State as they partake in the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Barry University.
