KENMORE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team won two of five matches during second-day action of the Medaille College Invitational today. The eight-team tournament was held at Classic Lanes.
The Wildcats went 6-4 over the two days and placed second to tournament host Medaille in the final standings. The host Mavericks went undefeated over the two days and won the tournament for the third-straight year. The Mavericks entered the tournament ranked No. 12 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Division II-III preseason poll.
All five matches today were scored via the Baker format. The Wildcats opened the day with losses to Roberts Wesleyan College (845-804) and Medaille (931-913), before opening the positional round with an 877-800 win over D'Youville College. The matches then turned to a best-of-seven Baker format and Daemen advanced to the championship match following a 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan in the semifinals. The Wildcats fell to Medaille in the championship match, 4-0. Daemen's overall season record is now 14-15.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) and junior Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) ranked among the top-15 bowlers during the "traditional scoring" format on day one.
- Bartosz, a product of Orchard Park High School, ranked ninth out of 39 bowlers. She bowled in all five matches and posted an average score of 175.8. She rolled a 222 during a win over Penn State Behrend, which ranked as the highest score by a Daemen bowler yesterday.
- Hasiotis also competed in all five matches yesterday and posted a 164.0 average. She rolled a 194 during the win over Penn State Behrend.

The Wildcats return to action next weekend (Nov. 9-10) when they take part in the Redhawks Fall Rally hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College.
