Women's Bowling Wins Three of Five Matches During First Day Of Redhawk Fall Rally

LOCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team posted a 3-2 record during opening day action today at the Redhawk Fall Rally. The two-day tournament is being held at Brad Angelo Lanes and is being hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College.

Today's action was "traditional scoring format" and the Wildcats opened with three-straight wins over Roberts Wesleyan (857-844), Hilbert College (937-618) and Penn State Behrend (847-739), before suffering losses to Medaille College (877-807) and Villa Maria College (874-730). Today's results evens Daemen's season record to 17-17.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Freshman Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) and juniors Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) and junior Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) all bowled in all five matches.
  • Bartosz, a product of Orchard Park High School, posted a team-high 191.6 average. She rolled a 210 during a win over Roberts Wesleyan, which ranked as the highest score by a Daemen bowler today. She also rolled a 198 against Hilbert and a 195 against Penn State Behrend. She has now posted the highest team average during the "traditional scoring format" of all four matches so far this season.
  • Pencek bowled a 202 in the win over Hilbert and finished with a 171.8 average. Newberry rolled a 197 against Hilbert and posted a 172.2 average.
  • Junior Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) competed in the first three matches for the Wildcats and posted a 161.3 average. She rolled a 184 in the win over Hilbert.
