Wildcat Keglers Sweep Rival Redhawks In Fall Finale 12/6/2019 10:16:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications LANCASTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team closed out the fall portion of their 2019-20 season in style tonight, sweeping a pair of head-to-head matches vs. rival Roberts Wesleyan College at Lancaster Lanes. The Wildcats scored a 962-864 win in a traditionally scored match to open the night, and followed up with a 4-1 victory in a Baker format best-of-seven games match. The Redhawks edged Daemen 175-171 in the opening round of the best-of-seven, but Daemen rallied to take four straight rounds: 192-162, 215-163, 194-171 and 178-169. Junior Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) led the way in the traditional match, posting a season-best round of 247. She was backed up by senior Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y.) who rolled a 195 and Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) who posted a 176. Freshmen Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) and Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) also saw action in the traditional match, scoring rounds of 174 and 170, respectively. The same five bowlers got the start in the Baker format series, and helped Daemen extend their winning streak against their rivals from Rochester. Daemen has now won five straight meetings with Roberts Wesleyan, improving to 5-3 against them this season. The Wildcats hold an 18-12 lead in the all-time series with RWC. With tonight's wins, the Wildcats close the fall season with a 30-26 overall record. They stand just five wins shy of the program record for a single season, established in 2017-18 when the team posted a 35-17 mark. Daemen's 2019-20 season will resume during the spring semester. Their spring schedule is still to be announced, but it will culminate at the East Coast Conference Championships which are slated for March 20-22 in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Print Friendly Version
