2/8/2019 1:42:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - On Thursday, Feb. 7, Daemen College officials welcomed three NCAA Division II administrators to campus. Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II, Maritza Jones, director of Division II, and Ryan Jones, associate director of Division II, held meetings on campus with various athletics stakeholders, including Daemen president Gary A. Olson who recently assumed office as chair of the Division II Presidents Council.

The three NCAA administrators also took time to meet with a group of Daemen student-athletes. They each spoke at length about the NCAA governance structure, and the importance that Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) have at the institutional, conference and national levels. Daemen student-athletes were encouraged to use their collective voice to bring about positive changes on campus, while also pushing agenda items important to them with their national SAAC representative.

It marked the second visit of high-profile NCAA administrators campus since Daemen officially transitioned to Division II. Both Gronau and Maritza Jones were on also campus in May of 2017 with NCAA president Mark Emmert who held a town hall meeting with student-athletes before delivering a keynote address as part of Daemen's distinguished speaker series.
