Women's Basketball Up To #9 In Latest D2SIDA Regional Poll 1/13/2020 3:22:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's basketball team is ranked in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region media poll for the 10th consecutive week dating back to last season. The Wildcats come in at No. 9 this week, up one spot from the No. 10 position they've occupied the previous four weeks. The poll is conducted by sports information professionals from around the East Region which includes teams affiliated with the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Daemen sits at 12-3 overall and 4-1 in ECC play so far this season. The Wildcats are off to their best start since the 2012-13 season, and have won seven of their last eight ballgames. After a nearly three-week hiatus between games, the Wildcats returned to action in a big way last Friday night, drilling a program-record 20 three-pointers in an 89-62 win over Queens College. They followed up with a tightly-contested 61-59 defeat of the University of Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon. The victories extended Daemen's home-court winning streak to 13-straight games, the second-longest active streak in the East Region behind Bentley University (15-straight home wins). Daemen was one of only three teams to make a jump in the poll this week, joining No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas College (up from No. 5) and No. 8 Stonehill College (up from No. 9). There was no movement among the top three teams this week, with No. 1 Adelphi University grabbing all six first-place votes, followed again by No. 2 Bentley and No. 3 University of the Sciences. Daemen hits the road for their lone contest next weekend at the University of the District of Columbia on Sunday, Jan. 19. D2SIDA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EAST REGION MEDIA POLL - WEEK #7 W-L Pts.
