Wildcats Hold At #10 In D2SIDA Women's Basketball Regional Poll

1/6/2020 2:45:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's basketball team is ranked in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region media poll for the ninth consecutive week dating back to last season. The Wildcats come in at No. 10 this week, a position they've occupied for four successive weeks now. The poll is conducted by sports information professionals from around the East Region which includes teams affiliated with the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Daemen sits at 10-3 overall and 2-1 in ECC play so far this season. The Wildcats are off to their best start since the 2012-13 season, and have won five of their last six ballgames.

The Wildcats have been idle since sweeping a pair of games at the College of St. Rose Holiday Classic in mid-December. Behind the play of ECC Player of the Week Caroline White (Fairport, N.Y.), the Wildcats ousted American International College (53-40) as well as the host Golden Knights (78-57) in back-to-back games. White, who leads the team in both scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg), collected double-doubles in both games. She grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the win over AIC, and then notched 21 points - one shy of her season and career-high - in the win over St. Rose. Sophomore forward Katie Titus (Penfield, N.Y.) added a career-best 27 points against the Golden Knights.

St. Anselm College has suffered three recent losses to fall out of the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, dropping to No. 4. Unbeaten Adelphi University claims the top spot this week, followed by No. 2 Bentley University and No. 3 University of the Sciences. Daemen is joined in the poll by fellow ECC members St. Thomas Aquinas College (No. 5) and Molloy College (No. 8).

Daemen returns to action this weekend as they host ECC games against Queens College (Friday, Jan. 10) and the University of Bridgeport (Sunday, Jan. 12).
