AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College Director of Athletics Traci Murphy has announced the appointment of Alexis Wayne as Director of Athletics Operations and Communications.

A graduate of Niagara University and a native of Cheektowaga, N.Y., Wayne comes to Daemen from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. She originally joined the MAAC as an Administrative Fellow in 2015 and was named the conference's Director of Women's Basketball Operations in 2017. She earned her second promotion to Associate Commissioner for Women's Basketball and Olympic Sports this past summer.

"Alexis has been an integral member of the MAAC since she joined the staff as a Fellow in 2015. She is well respected by the coaches she works with and by her peers in the industry," said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor upon her promotion this past summer.

Wayne will work under the general supervision of Mike Miranto, Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations and Communications at Daemen. She will be primarily responsible for the scheduling of facilities to accommodate all varsity team practices, home athletic competitions, and outside group rentals. Her duties will also include the hiring, training, scheduling and supervising of all graduate assistants and student workers for athletic events. In addition, she will provide assistance within the Office of Athletic Communications as needed.

"We are incredibly fortunate to be bringing Alexis on board as part of the Daemen Athletics family," said Murphy. "Having worked closely with Alexis in the past, I can attest to the kind of work ethic, passion and the attention to detail she's going to bring to the position here at Daemen. She will be an invaluable asset for us as we continue to grow and enhance the game day experience of student-athletes, fans and spectators alike."

In her role as Associate Commissioner with the MAAC, Wayne was responsible for overseeing all Olympic sport operations, supervising championships staff and serving as the primary director of softball and its championship. Additionally, she managed the planning and operations of women's basketball and the annual MAAC Honor Roll dinner.

Prior to joining the MAAC, Wayne served as a ticketing/marketing graduate assistant within the Niagara University athletic department. She was a four-year member of the NU softball team and served as a team captain her junior and senior year. A three-time MAAC all-academic selection, she graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2013. She went on to earn her master's degree in Sport Management from NU in 2015.

Wayne was selected to attend the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Emerging Leaders Seminar in 2016, and was an event volunteer at the 2016 NCAA Women's Bowling Championships, the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship and Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, La.
