It marks the third consecutive week that Daemen has been recognized on the national stage and the highest ranking of the program's NCAA era. Daemen is off to its first 3-0 start since the 2012-13 campaign. The Wildcats began defense of their East Coast Conference championship with a pair of blowout wins over league newcomer D'Youville this past weekend, winning 85-52 on the road Friday and 90-37 at home Sunday. In Sunday's matinee, the Wildcats hit the 90-point mark for the first time since March 1, 2019 and the 53-point margin of victory marks a record for the program's NCAA era as well as for an ECC contest. Daemen has won 40 of their last 47 games dating back to January 2019. Included in that stretch is the Wildcats' 20-game home winning streak which ranks seventh among all Division II teams and first in the East Region. The Wildcats continue to get things done at the defensive end, limiting opponents to 51.0 points per game and just 30% shooting. The team's 65 rebounds in Sunday's win over D'Youville marked a new benchmark for the program's NCAA era. The Wildcats have held 26 of their last 31 opponents to 65 points or less and are 25-1 in those contests. The D2SIDA national media poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the eight regions that comprise NCAA Division II. A second national poll conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) is expected to be released on a weekly basis beginning February 2. Daemen returns to action this weekend with a pair of contests against ECC newcomer D'Youville (Friday Jan. 22, away, 6 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 24, home, 12 p.m.).
