Wildcats Look To Continue Winning Ways Vs. Rival Redhawks Daemen takes 13-match series winning streak into Tuesday's match at RWC 10/25/2021 1:25:00 PM Match #23 Daemen Wildcats (15-7, 8-0 ECC) vs. Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks (1-17, 0-8 ECC) Date: Tuesday, Oct. 26 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Rochester, N.Y. | Voller Athletic Center Live Stream: Via ECC Network Live Stats: Via robertsredhawks.com FIVE THINGS TO KNOW 1. TUESDAY IN THE ROC The Daemen Wildcats look to keep the momentum rolling when they make a short road trip Tuesday evening to face long-time rival Roberts Wesleyan. It's a meeting between teams book-ending the East Coast Conference standings. At 8-0, Daemen is the league's last remaining unbeaten team. At 0-8, Roberts Wesleyan is the last winless team in the league. The Wildcats have hit their stride over the last month, shaking off a 4-5 start to win 11 of their last 13 outings. A win Tuesday would match the program's best start to a conference season since joining the ECC in 2013. The Wildcats last started 9-0 during the 2018 season, going on to finish 13-1. 2. PLAYOFF PICTURE Daemen became the first ECC team to clinch a conference tournament berth following their 3-0 victory over Queens (N.Y.) last Friday evening. The Wildcats sit alone in first place in the ECC standings, firmly in control of the race for the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. A win Tuesday at RWC would put the Wildcats one step closer to achieving that goal. The ECC Championship tournament will feature the top four teams in the final regular season standings and will be hosted by the No. 1 seed. The semifinals are slated for November 19 with the final round taking place November 20. The winner of the ECC Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. 3. GOING STREAKING Daemen takes a 13-match series winning streak into Tuesday's contest. It ranks as the Wildcats' longest active winning streak against any single opponent. The Wildcats, who own a 39-4 mark in sets won during that span, extended the streak with a 3-1 victory at Lumsden Gymnasium earlier this season. Junior Maggie Burns and grad student Caitlyn Meyer led the way, combining for 30 kills and a .509 hitting percentage. The Wildcats tallied 67 kills in the match while holding the Redhawks to just 34. 3. SUPER SAM Senior Sam Logan has emerged as the Wildcats' top offensive player over the course of the last month. In the last 11 matches, Logan leads the team in kills (109) and kills per set (3.52), and has risen her season kills-per-set average from 2.54 to 3.07. She currently ranks seventh in total kills (175), fifth in kills per set and 11th in total attacks (447) among the ECC leaders. She's also tied for the conference lead in service aces per set (0.49). 5. UP NEXT The Wildcats return to Lumsden Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 2 to host crosstown rival D'Youville. ROBERTS WESLEYAN SCOUTING REPORT Roberts Wesleyan is a member of the East Coast Conference, and the Redhawks are led by head coach Doug Porterfield who is in his seventh season with the program. Eleven players return to the Redhawks' roster, but they've been reliant upon a pair of freshmen to carry to offensive and defensive loads. Outside hitter Sydney Yanak leads the team in kills (118) and total attacks (379), while Teagan Weber (219 digs) is the only player with at least 100 digs. Sophomore setter Madison Truong leads the Redhawks with 270 assists and is tied for the conference lead in service aces per set (0.49). After opening the season with 12 straight setbacks, the Redhawks jumped into the win column with a thrilling 3-2 victory over St. Rose on October 1. They are coming off a four-set loss at Bridgeport this past weekend, and are looking to snap a five-match slide overall. ALL-TIME SERIES: DAEMEN VS.
