West Babylon, N.Y. – With regular season play now complete, the bracket for the East Coast Conference Volleyball Championship is set. The postseason action will take place on Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20 at Lumsden Gymnasium on Daemen's campus in Amherst, N.Y.
Daemen (20-7, 12-0 ECC) earned the right to host the four-team tournament by earning the ECC Regular Season Championship. The Wildcats won their third ECC regular season title in the last five seasons with a perfect 12-0 run through conference play. Daemen was dominant, losing only one set over the 12 matches.
The Wildcats, back in the bracket for the third straight season and fourth time in five years, are in search of the program's second ECC title. Daemen's only ECC Championship came the last time they hosted in 2018.
No. 4 Molloy (12-13, 7-5 ECC) will be Daemen's semifinal opponent. The Lions, back in the bracket for a fourth straight season, are defending champions and have won two of the past three ECC titles.
Daemen swept the season series between the two schools, winning both matches by a 3-0 margin.
The other semifinal will feature No. 3 Mercy (13-14, 8-4 ECC) vs. No. 2 Bridgeport (17-9, 9-3 ECC). Mercy, back in the tournament for a second straight year, looks to end a 20-year title drought after their last ECC crown came in 2001.
Bridgeport continues its conference-high streak by making the tournament for the 18th straight season. The Purple Knights have previously won the ECC Championship five times, with their last coming in 2015.
The season series between the two schools was swept by Bridgeport. The Purple Knights won 3-1 on the road before rallying from two sets down to win 3-2 on their home court this past weekend.
The tournament will start on Friday, November 19 with the Molloy vs. Daemen matchup at 5:30 p.m. Mercy vs. Bridgeport will follow at 7:30 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups will move on to the final on Saturday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m.
