AMHERST, N.Y. - Graduate student Caitlyn Meyer (Clarence, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Volleyball Team which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Meyer is one of seven honorees from District 1 of NCAA Division II which includes student-athletes who compete for teams affiliated with the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

To be considered for Academic All-District honors, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) while reaching sophomore athletic eligibility.

Meyer, a 6-foot right side, has made an immediate impact in her first and only season competing at Daemen. She joined the Wildcats as a graduate transfer from Division I James Madison University where she played four seasons and graduated last spring with a degree in Computer Information Systems. Meyer carried a 3.73 GPA during her undergraduate tenure. She will graduate from Daemen's Master of Business Administration program in May 2022.

On the court, Meyer has recorded a team-high 310 kills and is averaging an East Coast Conference-best 3.52 kills per set. A four-time ECC Player of the Week selection, Meyer has tallied 10 or more kills in 20 of 27 matches. She also ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.299) and ninth in blocks per set (0.64) among the ECC leaders, helping Daemen go 20-7 overall and 12-0 in conference play.

Meyer becomes just the second women's volleyball player from Daemen to earn Academic All-District honors, joining 2017 recipient Meghan Ballou.

Joining Meyer on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team are Jessica Akiona and Emily Barry of New Haven, Mandy Bethels of Wilmington (Del.), Amanda Henneman of Bridgeport, Camille Johnson of Holy Family and Jamie Yonker of Adelphi. These student-athletes will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
