Daemen Ranked 5th In First NCAA Regional Poll Of 2021 Season 11/3/2021 3:22:00 PM By: CONTACT: Mike Miranto, St. Associate A.D. for Communications/Operations AMHERST, N.Y. - With 13 wins in their last 15 matches, the Daemen College women's volleyball team is ranked No. 5 in the first NCAA Division II East Region poll of the 2021 season which was released this afternoon at ncaa.com. The East Region of NCAA Division II is comprised of teams from the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, and the regional rankings are used to determine at-large bids to the East Regional portion of the NCAA Tournament following the respective conference tournaments later this month. Daemen sits at 17-7 overall this season, and their 10-0 mark in ECC play has the Wildcats atop the league standings with their sights set on clinching the No. 1 seed in ECC Championship tournament. Coach Stephanie Albano's Wildcats are off to their best start to a conference season since 2004. Three of the top four teams are affiliates of the NE-10, including No. 1 Stonehill and No. 2 American International. Holy Family out of the CACC checks in at No. 3 while New Haven is No. 4. Adelphi (No. 6), Bentley (No. 7), Southern Connecticut State (No. 8), Jefferson (No. 9) and St. Anselm (No. 10) round out the bottom half of the rankings. Daemen looks to extend its ECC winning streak this weekend with Mercy (Saturday, Nov. 6) and Bridgeport (Sunday, Nov. 7) coming to Lumsden Gymnasium.
