WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team opened its 2020-21 season with a 7-0 victory over D'Youville College tonight at the Miller Tennis Center. It marked Daemen's first match in over a year. The final five matches of Daemen's 2019-20 season and the fall portion of the the 2020-21 scheduled were wiped out by the pandemic.
Tonight's match marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs. D'Youville was also competing in its first match in more than a calendar year. The Saints are transitioning from NCAA Division III to Division II and are in their first season as members of the East Coast Conference.
It also marked a successful debut for head coach Jesse Plote, who was named head coach at Daemen this past fall.
