Daemen Announces Updated Policy For Spectators At Home Athletic Events

3/31/2021 5:00:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - Following updated guidance with regards to spectators at collegiate sporting events announced yesterday by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the Daemen College Division of Athletics is pleased to begin offering limited seating at both indoor and outdoor sporting events. The updated policy will primarily pertain to teams with home contests scheduled over the next several weeks, including women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's tennis.

Each participating student-athlete and coach will be permitted to reserve up to two tickets for spectators to attend home events at Daemen and the college's off-campus athletic venues. Each team will compile and verify their pass lists 24 hours before each contest. Once submitted, no additions or alterations to the pass list will be permitted.

No tickets will be offered to the general public or visiting teams at this time.

Attendance at Daemen sporting events is contingent upon strict adherence to the following guidelines:
  • Masks or facial coverings required at all times
  • Temperature taken and CDC symptom check administered upon arrival at sporting venue
  • Sit together with members of your own pod while maintaining physical distance from other spectators
  • No tailgating or gatherings, before or after each game
  • No face-to-face contact with team personnel; spectators should exit the venue promptly at the conclusion of each contest
Failure to adhere to the above guidelines may result in dismissal from the sporting event and a review of future attendance eligibility. It is imperative for spectators to comply with these procedures in order to preserve the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and other team personnel.

Events held at outdoor venues such as Karrer Field will have no regular bleacher seating. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

This policy, which goes into effect April 2, is subject to change based on the spread of COVID-19 within the community, as well as changing guidelines from local, state and federal governments.

It's important to note that this policy pertains only to games hosted by Daemen College. Spectator attendance at Daemen road games is based upon the determination of the hosting institution.
