Ninth Annual Wildcat Golf Classic Set For August 5 5/10/2021 4:30:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications AMHERST, N.Y. - The Ninth Annual Wildcat Golf Classic will take place on Thursday, August 5 at Diamond Hawk Golf Course in Cheektowaga, the Daemen College Division of Athletics announced today. Since its inception, the Wildcat Golf Classic has developed into the largest single-day fundraising event of the year for Daemen Athletics as its brings together alumni, fans and corporate partners in support of Daemen's nearly 250 student-athletes. The event will feature an 11 a.m. shotgun tee time, with accommodations for more than 120 golfers. In addition to a full 18-hole round of golf at Western New York's premier public course, participants can expect driving range and putting green access, tee gifts, lunch prepared by the Diamond Hawk Clubhouse, dinner prepared by Dickey's BBQ Food Truck, as well as beverages and other fun activities on the course. The tournament is played under a traditional four-man scramble format. No handicaps are needed for participation. Registrations will be accepted for individual golfers, twosomes, threesomes or foursomes at a cost of $160 per golfer ($640 per foursome). The early bird registration price is available until July 25, after which the price will rise to $175 per golfer and $700 per foursome. A wide-array of sponsorship opportunities are also available for those wishing to make it a more corporate experience for themselves or area businesses. Sponsorships range from $200 to $2,500 and include various marketing elements. Donations of gift certificates, sports equipment, game or event tickets and merchandise for use as event prizes will be accepted as well. Funds generated from the event benefit the Wildcat Athletics Association - the umbrella of financial support for Daemen Athletics. The Wildcat Athletics Association supports the division's yearly operating budget by providing funds dedicated to enhancing student-athlete support services, athletics scholarships and renovations to existing athletic facilities. "The Wildcat Golf Classic provides a wonderful opportunity for our coaches and student-athletes to connect with the many people who are choosing to invest in The Wildcat Way, said Traci Murphy, director of athletics, referencing the division's recently released strategic vision. "It's a day that's meant to be fun and engaging, and one that will greatly impact our ability to develop championship-caliber student-athletes, both on the field of competition and in the classroom. We're thrilled to be back at Diamond Hawk Golf Club, and we're very much looking forward to seeing so many of our supporters from whom we've been so isolated over the past year."
