THE MOMENT:
Dolan Records 100th Career Victory

Good things come to those who wait.

It was a long wait indeed for Dan Dolan, head women's soccer coach at Daemen, who entered the 2020 season sitting on 99 career victories. Instead of picking up his milestone 100th victory sometime in early September, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the team's traditional fall season to be shortened and delayed until the Spring 2021 semester. After opening the campaign with back-to-back losses, Dolan's milestone moment came on April 11 when the Wildcats opened a new Western New York rivalry by defeating D'Youville 4-0.

Freshman forward Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals, including one in the eighth minute of the contest which gave the Wildcats a lead that would never relinquish. Single tallies by sophomore midfielder Nicole Grichen (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and sophomore Faye Panagopoulos (Knemore, N.Y.) followed as the Wildcats took a 3-0 lead into halftime. By the time Amato scored in the game's 77th minute, it was all over except for the shouting. Dolan was greeted with a warm reception in the team locker room as each student-athlete knew the accomplishment he was set to achieve.

Already the program's longest-tenured coach and its all-time leader in wins, Dolan holds a 101-92-11 career record as he enters his 13th season at the helm this fall. Since taking the reins in 2009, Dolan has led the Wildcats to the only regular season conference title in team history, three trips to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championships, including a USCAA national title in 2012, as well as the program's ascent within the ranks of NCAA Division II and the East Coast Conference. In 2019, the team's last full season before the pandemic, Dolan guided the Wildcats to their first NCAA tournament apperance.
