The win closed out a season-opening three-match homestand for the Wildcats who improved to 2-1 on the young season. Allegheny, a member of NCAA Division III and the North Coast Conference, dropped to 1-2. It marked the Wildcats' seventh consecutive win in matches against Division III opponents. DOUBLES REPORT: Daemen's Top Pair Delivers The Point The match opened up with the Wildcats and Gators splitting two of the three doubles matches. Scime paired with fellow freshman Yinett Del Leon (Cape Coral, Fla.) on a 6-0 win on the second doubles court. It marked Del Leon's first collegiate victory. But, the Gators evened things up when Allison Riley and Lauren Passarelli secured their own 6-0 win on the third doubles court. That turned the attention to the first doubles court where Rubio and Stasiuk were pushed by Allegheny's Sabrina Rodriguez and Ella Swan. In the end, Rubio and Stasiuk scored a 6-3 win, clinching the doubles point for the hosts, and running their record together to 7-4 all-time. SINGLES REPORT: Wildcats Take Four Out Of Six; Schayes Shines In Longest Match Despite playing in full sun on a steamy late summer day, Stasiuk barely broke a sweat in giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. She breezed by Rodriguez on the second singles court, winning 6-0, 6-1. Allegheny's Katherine Stancil cut the Daemen lead in half, winning 6-3, 6-4 on the fourth singles court. But the Wildcats responded and put the match out of reach. Scime was fired up with each forehand or backhand winner on the third singles court as she took down Jean-Arlette Legrand 6-2, 6-2. And Rubio, on the number one singles court, outlasted a feisty Swan by a 6-3, 6-2 final. Rubio's win gave Daemen a fourth point, clinching the overall dual match victory. Noelle Kidd won on the sixth singles court, securing a second point for Allegheny. That left the day's most competitive match as the last to be decided as Daemen's Mackenzie Schayes (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) met AC's Taylor Hayes on the fifth singles court. Schayes took the first set 7-5, battling back from a 5-4 deficit. But, Hayes evened the match with a 6-2 second set. In the third set tiebreaker, Hayes served with a 7-6 lead, but Schayes won the next four points to take the match and give Daemen a season-best fifth point. MATCH NOTES With two victories today, Stasiuk now has 71 combined singles/doubles wins in her career. She is only the fourth Daemen player to reach 70 career wins, and now stands just one win shy of tying Jessica Robins (72) for third in program history.
