1/24/2022 3:58:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - After holding the No. 7 spot for five consecutive weeks, Daemen moved down one spot and were ranked eighth in the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region Women's Basketball Media Poll. The latest poll, for week 10 of the 2021-22 season, was released this afternoon. The Wildcats have now been ranked in 31 consecutive D2SIDA regional polls, a span that dates back to January 2019.

The defending East Region champions are 9-3 overall and remain unbeaten in East Coast Conference play (7-0) following road victories against St. Thomas Aquinas (66-48 on Jan. 21) and Mercy (55-51 on Jan. 23.) The victory against the Mavericks has the Wildcats in first place atop the ECC standings heading into the last full week of January. Through the first 12 contests, senior forward Katie Titus (Penfield, N.Y.) leads the team in points per game (18.8) and rebounds per game (8.8) while redshirt senior Tiara Filbert (Batavia, N.Y.) is second in points per game (11.3) along with a team-high 3.8 assists per game.

Daemen accumulated 19 points in this week's poll. Before sliding down, the Wildcats had sole possession of the No. 7 ranking for the past four weeks and were tied for seventh with Southern Connecticut State for the week of Dec. 13.

For a second straight week, Southern New Hampshire claims the No. 1 ranking with a 12-2 overall record and received all six first-place votes (60 total points.) Pace (14-2) moved up one more spot to No. 2 this week, as did Le Moyne who moved up to No. 3 and now stand at 10-2 overall. Bentley rounds out the top four this week with a 9-4 record.

Chesnut Hill (14-3) jumped up three spots this week to No. 5. USciences (12-3) and Jefferson (12-5) are tied for sixth in this week's poll and round out the teams ahead of Daemen this week.

The back end of the poll features No. 9 Saint Anselm (9-7) and No. 10 Post (10-4) for a second consecutive week.

The D2SIDA East Region media poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the ECC, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
