ON THE ROAD AGAIN
For the third time during the regular season, the Daemen University women's basketball team hits the road for a non-conference game, heading south to Bloomsburg, PA to take on the Bloomsburg Huskies on Sunday at 2 PM. The Wildcats opened up the season with a road trip to play in the Redhawks Classic in which they came out 2-0 with wins over nationally-ranked Pace and Felician. This is the final non-conference match for Daemen before they open up East Coast Conference play next Friday, Dec. 2 when they host Molloy.

3-0 START
The Wildcats started the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since the 2020-21 season, and the third time since the start of the 2012-13 season. Daemen is coming off a huge 69-66 win over Le Moyne that came down to the wire. Despite a fourth-quarter comeback, the Cats made pivotal free throws in the final minute of the game to hold off Le Moyne and remain undefeated on the year. It snapped a five-game losing streak to the Dolphins, and marked the first time the Wildcats had beaten Le Moyne since 2013. Daemen was slated to host Saint Michael's of the NE-10 last Sunday, but the game was postponed due to the winter storm that dumped feet of snow in and around Buffalo last weekend.

SHOOTERS SHOOT
Graduate transfer Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) has made an immediate impact on the Wildcats in her first three games in a Daemen jersey. The 5-foot-6 guard leads the team with 45 points on the season, averaging 15.5 points per game. She leads the Wildcats in shooting, both from the field and beyond the arc, with 15-of-23 field goals made, as well as a team-high 10-of-16 three pointers made. Junior guard Kaytlyn Matz (Johnsburg, Ill.) put together an impressive outing against Le Moyne last week, shooting 57 percent from the field, finishing 4-of-7, and 80 percent from beyond the arc, banking 3-of-4 three's for a season-high 15 points. Matz also pulled down three rebounds, added an assist and a steal in the win. She ranks second on the team in points through three games, totaling 26 points on the season.

DE-FENSE
Four Wildcats have recorded double-digit rebounds through the first three games this season. Led by fifth-year Mickayla Ivy (Grand Rapids, Mich.) who tallies 16 rebounds to average 5.3 rebounds a game, redshirt junior guard Alina Estrella (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ranks second on the team with 12 total rebounds on the season. Junior forward Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) and Emborsky both total 11 rebounds. Daemen averages 36.7 rebounds per game, and totals 110 rebounds on the season.

RANKINGS
For the second straight week, the Wildcats are ranked second in the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America East Region poll, continuing their streak of being ranked in 36 consecutive D2SIDA polls for a streak that dates back to January 2019. Along with their regional ranking, Daemen rose to No. 17 in the second D2SIDA national poll.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats return to Lumsden Gymnasium to host Molloy in the ECC opener on Friday, Dec. 2 in a Daemen basketball doubleheader. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 5:30 PM, and the men will play the Lions at 7:30 PM.

SCOUTING THE BLOOMSBURG HUSKIES
Bloomsburg has opened up the 2022-23 season with a 2-0 record with a pair of close wins. The Huskies topped Chestnut Hill 70-69 in the season opener, and were on the winning side of an overtime victory, 70-65, against Holy Family on Monday. Offensively, Bloomsburg is led by sophomore forward Katie Starr who has a team-high 30 points to average 15 points per game through two games, and leads the Huskies with 19 total rebounds on the season (9.5 rebounds per game). Starr was being the hero against Holy Family, scoring 16 points, making key defensive stops and banking eight free throws in the victory. Sophomore shooting guard Ella Kale averages 35 minutes per game, and ranks second on the team with 14 ppg (28 total points). Sophomore guard Allison Hileman is a threat beyond the arc, shooting 56-percent (5-of-9) through two games.
