Women's Basketball Moves To 6-0 With 61-43 Win Over Queens

The Wildcats Have Beaten The Knights Eight Straight Times

AMHERST, N.Y. – Another game, another win for Daemen University women's basketball. The Wildcats won their sixth straight in a commanding 61-43 victory over Queens on Sunday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the season. Daemen moves to 6-0 on the year, and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play. The Wildcats have won five straight ECC regular season games dating back to Feb. 20, and owns a 27-1 record in regular season conference games since the 2020 season.

The Wildcats are off to their best start during their NCAA era (2015-present) and the best start overall since they opened the 2012-13 season with six straight wins.

The nationally-ranked Wildcats put together a balanced attack against the Knights, with three different players scoring double-digit points on the afternoon. Daemen finished the game shooting 46-percent from the field (24-of-52) and 47-percent from beyond the arc (7-of-15). Graduate student Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) scored a team-high 17 points for the third time this season, shooting 70-percent (7-of-10) from the field and was a perfect 3-of-3 for three's. Emborsky has led all Wildcat shooters in four of Daemen's six games this season.

Coming off a 56-49 loss to D'Youville on Friday night, Queens moves to 2-6 on the season and 0-2 in ECC play. The Knights were held to just six points in the second and fourth quarters by the Daemen defense. Today marked the fourth straight game that Daemen held Queens to under 55 points.

Today's matchup was the final home game of 2022 for the Wildcats. Daemen will play the next five games on the road, starting with next Friday's ECC tilt at St. Thomas Aquinas, before returning to Lumsden Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they host longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan.
