Wildcats Ranked Eighth For Third Straight Week In D2SIDA Regional Poll 2/7/2022 2:00:00 PM By: CONTACT: Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications | (716) 839-8385 | mmiranto@daemen.edu AMHERST, N.Y. - For a third consecutive week, Daemen remains at No. 8 in the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region Women's Basketball Media Poll. The latest poll, for week 12 of the 2021-22 season, was released this afternoon. The Wildcats have now been ranked in 33 consecutive D2SIDA regional polls, a span that dates back to early January 2019. The defending East Region champions are 13-3 overall and remain unbeaten in East Coast Conference play (11-0) following a come-from-behind road victory late in the fourth quarter against rival Roberts Wesleyan, 73-68, on Feb. 2. The Wildcats have now won 20 consecutive contests in ECC play plus 30-straight home regular-season conference games dating back to the 2017-18 season. With their 11-game winning streak, Daemen stands behind only Chestnut Hill (13 straight) for the longest winning streak in the East region. Through the first 16 contests, senior forward Katie Titus (Penfield, N.Y.) leads the team in points per game (18.9, also ECC-best) and rebounds per game (8.6) while redshirt senior Tiara Filbert (Batavia, N.Y.) is second in points per game (11.4) along with a team-high 4.3 assists per game (tied-third best in ECC.) Daemen accumulated 18 points in this week's poll. Before sliding down in the Jan. 24 poll, the Wildcats had sole possession of the No. 7 ranking for four weeks and were tied for seventh with Southern Connecticut State for the week of Dec. 13. For a second consecutive week, Bentley held the No. 1 ranking with a After placing fourth last week, Bentley jumped all the way to the top and claimed the No. 1 ranking with a 12-5 record and received five first-place votes (58 total points.) Pace (17-4) remained at No. 2 for a second straight week and, once again, received one first-place vote. Southern New Hampshire ascended to No. 3 with a 15-4 record. After being ranked third the past two weeks, Le Moyne dropped down one spot to No. 4 with a 13-4 record. Following the top four spots, there was no movement in this week's poll, in terms of which other teams are ahead of Daemen. Once again, Chestnut Hill (19-3) remained at No. 5 while USciences (15-3) and Jefferson (16-5) are sixth and seventh, respectively. The back end of the poll features Stonehill (8-6) entering at No. 9 while Post stays at No. 10 (12-6) for a fourth consecutive week. The D2SIDA East Region media poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the ECC, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
