AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team won their 10
th game of the season, topping longtime instate rival Roberts Wesleyan 71-51 on Wednesday evening at Lumsden Gym. The Wildcats have a 58-8 record in East Coast Conference action since the beginning of the 2018-19 season. Daemen moves to 10-2 on the year and 5-1 in ECC play, while Roberts drops to 2-11 and 1-5 in conference.

Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) led the Wildcats in scoring with 11 points on the day. Sophomore forward
Julia Hauer (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior guard
Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) both scored 10 points in the victory. Roberts junior guard Georgia Haverlock led the Redhawks and all shooters on the day with 15 points.
Daemen led for the entire game and finished with a 20-point win over Roberts, marking their second-highest margin of victory on the year (they beat Bloomsburg by 21 points on Nov. 27). The Wildcats finished the game shooting 49-percent from the field (25-of-51) and 23-percent from beyond the arc (3-of-13), while out-rebounding the Redhawks 36 to 24 on the day.
Today's game marked the final home game in the month of January. The Wildcats are on the road for the next four games, starting with Tuesday's crosstown matchup at D'Youville. Tipoff between the Wildcats and Saints is set for 6 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Graduate guard Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) shot 50-percent from the field (3-of-6) and beyond the arc (1-of-2), while banking a perfect 4-of-4 from the line to total 11 points on the day. Emborsky added a defensive rebound and an assist to her stat line.
- Sophomore forward Julia Hauer (Binghamton, N.Y.) played a season-high 18 minutes and scored in the double-digits for the second time this season, tying a season-high 10 points. She finished 3-of-5 from the field (60-percent) and 4-of-6 (67-percent) in free-throws. Hauer totaled three offensive rebounds, two assists and a game-high three steals.
- Junior guard Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with 10 points, knocking down four field goals for the third straight game. Paige added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Fifth year forward Mickayla Ivy (Grand Rapids, Mich.) totaled nine points and seven rebounds on the day. Ivy shot 57-percent from the field (4-of-7) and finished with three assists and two blocks.
- Junior forward Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds (seven defensive boards) and added two assists and a steal.
GAME NOTES
- The Wildcats have won five straight games against the Redhawks and own a 52-25 all-time series record over Roberts.
- Ivy was 3-of-4 from the field to total six points in the first quarter.
- The Wildcats shot 63-percent (7-of-11) from the field and 50-percent (1-of-2) from beyond the arc in the second quarter.
- In the first half, the Wildcats pulled down 10 offensive rebounds compared to just six for the Redhawks.
- Five Wildcats combined for eight steals in the game, with Hauer leading the way with a season-high three steals on the day.
- Daemen scored an unprecedented 32 points off the bench, and held the Redhawks to eight bench points.
- Today marked the fifth straight game that Paige has recorded a steal in the game, and her fifth multi-steal game on the year.
- Emborsky scored the double-digit points for the ninth time this season.
- Six Daemen players recorded multiple rebounds in the game. Ivy and Hauer combined for six of the Wildcats' 13 total offensive boards.
- Daemen has won three straight games, and four of the last five.
