JUMP BALL
The Daemen University women's basketball team will make the short trek across town on Tuesday evening to take on the D'Youville Saints in a 6 PM East Coast Conference matchup.
ROAD WARRIORS
Tuesday's game marks the first of four straight road games for the Wildcats. After staying in Western New York to play the Saints on Tuesday, Daemen will travel to the nation's capital over the weekend to play at the University of District of Columbia on Saturday, Jan 21, then will start the second half of conference play with a pair of ECC games at Molloy and Queens on Jan. 27 and Jan. 29.
WINNING STREAK
Daemen comes into the matchup riding a three-game win streak after beating St. Michael's 63-48 in their final non-conference game of the season then topping Staten Island 64-45 on the road before a 71-51 win over Roberts Wesleyan last Wednesday. The Wildcats have won the last four out of five games, and out-scored opponents by an average of 11 points per game, 62.8 to 52.
LAST GAME OUT
The Wildcats led the Redhawks throughout the entire 40 minutes and finished with a 20-point win over Roberts in their Wednesday evening matchup, marking their second-highest margin of victory on the year (they beat Bloomsburg by 21 points on Nov. 27). The Wildcats shot 49-percent from the field (25-of-51) and 23-percent from beyond the arc (3-of-13), while out-rebounding the Redhawks 36 to 24 on the day. Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) led the Wildcats in scoring with 11 points on the day. Sophomore forward
Julia Hauer (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior guard
Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) both scored 10 points in the victory.
RAGING PAIGE
After transferring into Daemen this season,
Paige Emborsky has put together a very successful first year as a Wildcat. The graduate student guard has put together nine double-digit point games on the year and leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game, and leads the team and the ECC in shooting in both field goal percentage (53.9) and three point percentage (61.1). Her 61.1 three-point shooting percentage also leads all of Division II. Averaging 29.6 minutes per game, Emborsky also snags an average of 3.9 rebounds per game.
NAT ATTACK
Junior forward
Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) leads the Wildcats in rebounding through 12 games this the season, totaling 72 on the year to average 6.0 boards per game. She ranks third on the team in scoring, averaging 7.3 ppg while shooting 51-percent from the field (36-of-70), and she is the only Wildcats on the year to record a double-double when she tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds against St. Michael's.
POLL POSITION
After last week's victory over Roberts Wesleyan, Daemen remains ranked fourth in the East Region in the latest Division II Sports Directors of America (D2SIDA) Women's Basketball Regional Rankings, and are receiving votes in the D2SIDA National Poll. Daemen has been ranked in 43 straight regional polls dating back to early January 2019.

The Wildcats head to the nation's capital this weekend to take on the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday, Jan. 21 in a 1 PM tilt.
SCOUTING THE D'YOUVILLE SAINTS
Coming into Tuesday's matchup with a 5-9 overall record, D'Youville has picked up four of their wins on the year in conference play. The month of January has been successful for D'Youville as the Saints have won three of their last four games, topping Staten Island, UDC and Roberts Wesleyan while falling only to Saint Rose. Three Saints have totaled triple-digit points on the year, with junior guard
Brianne Moxley leading the way with an average of 10.4 ppg, and the sophomore guard duo of
Anna Jankovic and
Stella Mollica average 9.2 and 8.9 ppg, respectively. Sophomore forward
Sofie Fuglsang has proven to be a threat from outside the arc shooting a team-leading 36-percent (17-of-47) from three. Jankovic leads the conference in rebounding, averaging 11.4 boards per game, and the trip of Moxley, Jankovic and Mollica have combined for 127 of D'Youville's 176 total assists on the year.
