Four teams are in action this week, highlighted by the women's bowling team taking part in the East Coast Conference Championship.
 



Men's Tennis (4-9, 0-0 ECC)

Saturday, March 25 – vs. District of Columbia - Williamsville, N.Y. - 6:30 p.m.

The men's tennis team went 2-1 last week, posting back-to-back wins over Houghton (8-1) and Bloomsburg (5-2), before suffering a 6-1 loss at Le Moyne yesterday. The Wildcats play just one match this week, as they open up East Coast Conference play Saturday when they host the University of the District of Columbia. Senior Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ontario) has won three of his last four singles matches and owns a team-best 6-4 overall singles record. UDC (2-8, 0-1 ECC) is coming off losses to Queens (7-0) and Adelphi (5-2) this last weekend.

The men's volleyball team saw its 10-match winning streak comne to end during a trip to California last week. The Wildcats suffered back-to-back losses to Concordia and Pepperdine, before closing the trip with a 3-2 upset of nationally-ranked CSUN. Concordia is ranked No. 4 in the most recent Off the Block Division II poll, while Pepperdine is No. 7 and CSUN is No. 12 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Collegiate poll. The Wildcats are ranked No. 6 in the most recent Off the Block Division II national poll. The win over CSUN marked the first win over a team ranked in the AVCA National Collegiate poll in program history. Senior outside hitter Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) has posted double digit kills in eight of the last nine matches and leads the team in total kills (183) and kills per set (3.73). He was named the Off the Block Offensive Player of the Night after equaling his career-high for kills (26) during the win over CSUN. Senior setter Sean Califf (Oak Park, Ill.) finished with 45 assists in the win over CSUN and is averaging 9.08 assists per set. He also leads the team in digs (91). Daemen puts its perfect Northeast Conference (NEC) record on the line this weekend when they play host to Fairleigh Dickinson and Saint Francis (Pa.). FDU (4-12, 1-5 NEC) has lost six-straight matches and is coming off back-to-back losses to George Mason this past weekend. SFU (7-11, 4-2) had a three-match winning streak snapped following a 3-0 loss to nationally-ranked Penn State this past weekend. The Red Flash were picked first in the NEC preseason coaches poll.

Friday, March 24 - Sunday, March 26 – at East Coast Conference Championship - Coram, N.Y.

The nationally-ranked women's bowling team returns to action for the first time in over a month when they take part in the 2023 East Coast Conference Championship this weekend in Coram, N.Y. Daemen is ranked No. 11 in the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III poll. Daemen will be competing for the first time since placing fourth at the Wildcat Division II Invitational last month. Senior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) placed second among all bowlers with a 213.80 average during the traditional round play and was named to the all-tournament team. Seniors Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) and Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) also finished among the Top-10 bowlers during the traditional matches. Bartosz finished sixth (209.20) and Bergeron placed 10
th (197.20). Daemen is one of 10 teams competing for the ECC Championship. Daemen is one of four ECC teams that are ranked in the NTCA Division II/III poll. Mercyhurst is No. 4, Daemen is No. 11, Kutztown is No. 15 and Molloy is receiving votes. Wilmington (Del.) claimed the title last year but is no longer an ECC member, so there will be a new champion in 2023.

The women's lacrosse team went 1-2 last week, posting a 14-3 win at Alfred and suffering losses at Findlay (17-10) and Ashland (10-9). Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) totaled 12 points (7 gls, 5 asts) over the three games and has registered a team-high 31 points (16 gls, 15 asts) on the year. Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored three times in the win over Alfred and has netted a team-high 17 goals. Freshman Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) scored a team-high eight goals over the three games last week and ranks third on the team in goals (15). Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) leads the team in draw controls (46). Daemen plays two games this week. The Wildcats travel to Edinboro Thursday (3/23) and host Tiffin on Sunday (3/26). Edinboro is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and fell to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC following a 20-2 loss to IUP this past Friday. Tiffin is a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The Dragons improved to 4-4 overall following a 16-11 win over Madonna last Wednesday and travel to Lake Erie College for their G-MAC opener on Friday.
