Women's Tennis Suffers 6-1 Loss at Regional Power Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. - The Daemen University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at Franklin Pierce University this evening in a match played at the FPU Tennis Courts. Franklin Pierce is a NCAA Division II affiliate and a member of the Northeast-10 Conference. The Ravens went 8-2 in conference play last fall and advanced to the championship match of the NE-10 Tournament.

FPU improved to 12-4 on the year, while Daemen dropped to 6-12 with the win.

The Ravens opened the match by winning all three doubles matches to earn the one point as per NCAA Division II scoring. Daemen's lone point came at No. 2 singles, where sophomore Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) outlasted graduate student Ana Platisa 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. Sophomore Yinett Del Leon (Cape Coral, Fla.) had a competitive match at No. 3 singles, but suffered a 6-3, 5-7. 5-10 loss to senior Liria Loria.

Scime improved to 15-6 in singles play this year and is now 18-7 in her last 25 singles matches dating back to the end of last season. Her 15 wins this season rank as the second most in a single season in program history, behind only Christina Stasiuk who posted 18 wins during the 2017-18 season. Scime has moved into the Top-10 in both combined singles and doubles wins (39) and career singles victories (23) among Daemen's all-time leaders.
