Women's Volleyball Senior Night Ends In Sweep Over Roberts Wesleyan

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's volleyball team swept Roberts Wesleyan University 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) in their regular season finale on Wednesday night to move to 17-7 overall and 9-3 in East Coast Conference play. Roberts Wesleyan drops to 12-12 and 3-8 in conference matches. Currently sitting in second in the conference, Daemen will wait for the results for the rest of the conference this upcoming weekend to find out the regular season champions and who will host the ECC Championship Tournament next weekend, Nov. 22-23.

Daemen, who leads the ECC in kills, out-hit Roberts 39 to 23 as eight Wildcats recorded kills in the sweep. Graduate student Abby Ryan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) was the only player on either team to total double-digit kills tonight and finished with 11 for a match-high 12 points.

It was the final regular season home game for four Wildcats – Giselle Giraud (Orlando, Fla.), Amelia Armstrong (River Falls, Wisc.), Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) and Abby Ryan – who were honored for Senior Night ahead of the match.

The Wildcats are ranked second out of 10 teams in the East Region in the second of three NCAA Division II Regional Rankings, released on Wednesday afternoon. The regional rankings are used to determine at-large bids to the East Regional portion of the NCAA Tournament following conference tournaments at the end of the season.
