Women's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight With 54-48 Victory At Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team opened up East Coast Conference play with a 54-48 victory over the College of Staten Island on Friday night. Winners of five straight games, the Wildcats move to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in ECC games on the year, while Staten Island drops to 5-5 and 0-1 in ECC action.

Daemen shot 36.4% from the field, going 24-of-66 while knocking down three triples. Freshman forward Ne'vaeh Buntley (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Wildcats offensively for the first time in her collegiate career, totaling a career-high 13 points. The Wildcats out-rebounded CSI 42 to 29 and were led by junior forward Cecilla Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) who pulled down 17 rebounds, one shy of an NCAA era (2015-present) record for single-game rebounds.
