Daemen dropped to 5-9 on the year, while the host Lakers improved to 5-1. The match was played under NCAA Division I/II scoring rules and the MU claimed the doubles point after winning all three matches. Daemen's No. 1 singles team of senior Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) and junior Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) came up just short against MU's Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy, falling in a tie-breaker 7-6 (7-1). Mercyhurst prevailed in straight sets in all six singles matches. Daemen is now idle until March 3 when they take on cross-town rival D'Youville. The Saints will be the host team and the match will be played at Southtowns Tennis Center. MATCH NOTES The match marked the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools. Mercyhurst has prevailed in all five meetings. Scime is now 12-5 on the season. She ranks fifth among Daemen's all-time leaders in career singles wins (35) and is now 30-12 in her last 42 singles matches dating back to the end of her freshman season.
