DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (23-25, 12-25, 22-25) on the road to Mercy University this afternoon.  The Wildcats are now 7-11 on the season and 3-2 in the conference, while the Mavericks move to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the ECC.

Daemen leaped out to a 7-4 lead in the opening set, but Mercy used three kills, an ace, and took advantage of an attack error to tie things up at eight. The Mavericks grabbed their first lead of the game to go up 9-8, but the Wildcats responded with back-to-back points to reclaim the lead at 10-9. Both teams went back and forth to find themselves tied at 22. Mercy took a 24-22 lead, but a kill from Avery Dole cut the lead to one before the Mavericks won the set 25-23.

Mercy wasted no time getting out in front 10-3 in the second set. The Wildcats attempted to claw their way back as they cut the lead to 14-8, but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks were able to claim the set 25-12 and go up 2-0 in the match.

Looking to force a fourth set, Daemen grabbed an early 6-3 lead in the third set. Mercy used a 4-0 run to take a 7-6 lead, but the Wildcats strung together a 3-0 run to retake the lead at 9-7. For the second time in the match, both teams traded points, where either team was tied or in front by a point. With Daemen trailing 16-15, Mercy was able to push its lead to 20-16, but the Wildcats used a 4-0 run to tie it 20-20. The Mavericks closed out the set with a 5-2 run to win 25-22 and claim the match 3-0.
