Lapertosa Takes Home Two ECC Weekly Honors

AMHERST, N.Y. — The East Coast Conference released its women's basketball weekly awards on Monday, with Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) taking home both Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week.

Lapertosa averaged a double-double in two games last week, recording 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She also posted five blocks (2.5 BPG) and two steals in the contests.

The senior logged her first double-double of the season against No. 5 Gannon last Wednesday, posting 12 points and 12 rebounds, including 11 defensive boards. She also tallied a block, a steal, and two assists in the contest.

On Sunday, Lapertosa posted her second straight double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, including nine defensive boards, helping Daemen defeat Chestnut Hill, 77-54.

Additionally, the forward registered four blocks, a steal, and an assist. She helped the Wildcats' defense hold Chestnut Hill to 26% shooting (17-for-65) from the field, allowing just 54 points.?

Lapertosa currently leads Daemen in scoring (15.5 PPG), rebounding (8.8 RPG), and blocks (1.5 BPG) while shooting 51.1% from the field.

This marks the fourth time in her career that Lapertosa has earned an ECC weekly honor and the second time she has been named both Player and Defensive Player of the Week in the same week after doing so last season.

The Wildcats welcome #20 Holy Family to Lumsden Gymnasium on Sunday for a 12 p.m. tip-off.
