CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Daemen University men's volleyball team dropped their seventh straight match, falling at Harvard University 0-3 (16-25, 13-25, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon in their final non-conference match of the season. The loss drops Daemen to a losing record, 9-10, in the middle of a season for the first time since their inaugural season, 2019.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Redshirt freshman Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) led the Wildcats offensively with 8 kills on 18 attacks for a .278 hitting percentage while adding two aces, two digs, one block assist and one solo block.
- Graduate student outside hitter Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) finished with five kills, two digs, one ace and one block assist.
- Sophomore setter Jariel Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) led the Wildcats with 13 assists while adding one kill and one dig.
- Senior Jack Rooney (Lakeview, N.Y.) posted a team-high four digs and added two kills and two assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- After Daemen won the first point of the first set, Harvard went on a 9-2 run. In the middle of the set, Daemen put together a 5-1 run to bring the game within four, 14-10, but the Crimson finished out the set winning 10 of the next 16 points to take the first, 25-16. Schneider tallied four of Daemen's 11 first-set kills.
- Daemen and Harvard traded points early in the second until the Crimson put together a 7-1 scoring run to take a 15-8 lead over the Cats. Harvard finished off the set with a 10-5 run, holding Daemen to a season-low in points in a set (13). The Wildcats had just six kills in the set.
- The Wildcats opened the third with their biggest lead of the match, starting with a 10-6 advantage over the Crimson after tallying four kills. Harvard scored four of the next five points to tie the game up at 11, and both teams traded points until tying the game up at 16. From there, Harvard put up five of the next six to take a 21-17 advantage and capped the game off taking down the Wildcats 25-20 to sweep Daemen, 3-0.
UP NEXT
Daemen returns to Lumsden Gymnasium for the first time since Feb. 22 next weekend as they host FDU on Saturday and Sunday (April 5-6) in a pair of Northeast Conference matches.
